I write this report earlier than usual because we are facing food crisis in Kenya. Foodstuffs prices have skyrocketed to unbelievable heights. We have exhausted all the money that we had for the food. We actually don't have foodstuffs for tomorrow. Today I had to sauce from other areas so that we can buy food for the kids. In the last 2 weeks we have not been able to buy bread or mandazi. The money ment for that went into adding to milk, unga, sugar and rice. Vegetables too are selling at very high prices due to drought in Kenya.
Schools are closing in the next two weeks from now. We will start our end term exams next week.
Our budget is as follows
Salaries..... 50,000
Food........... 20,000
Stationary.....3,000
Insurance... 14,000
Water...............3,000
TOTAL......... 90,000/=
We still meet with parents every Friday. We have already learnt how to make liquid soap, disinfectant, bleacher and softener. I am having a hard time buying maize flour for the parents every Friday. I have been giving them flour but due to food prices I am finding it hard
